Veteran Falls to Veteran: Murray Bows Out of Likely Final French Open.

Veteran Falls to Veteran: Murray Bows Out of Likely Final French Open.
A W AN 246                      It was a bittersweet farewell for Andy Murray at the French Open. The 3-time Grand Slam champion was defeated in the first round by his longtime rival, Stan Wawrinka. This loss makes it highly likely that this was Murray's last appearance at Roland Garros

AWAN246                                Murray, hinting at retirement later this year, fell short against Wawrinka in straight sets (6-4, 6-4, 6-2). Wawrinka, the 2015 French Open champion, wasn't a new face for Murray. In fact, Wawrinka had previously ended Murray's Roland Garros run in both 2020 (first round) and 2017 (semi-finals).

A WA N 2 4 6                            This emotional match saw Murray fight hard, but Wawrinka proved too strong. After the game, Murray expressed pride in his French Open record, acknowledging the challenges of clay courts, his least preferred surface.
